Services
Sunday services
Two services are held in the Chapel each Sunday:
- 10am—Holy Communion (Church of England/Free Church)
- 11am—Holy Mass (Roman Catholic)
Weekday prayer and services
- Christian Staff Fellowship meets in the Chapel each Tuesday at 12:30pm
- Holy Communion takes place in the Chapel each Thursday at 12:30pm
- Friday Prayer (Jumu'ah Salah) takes place each Friday between 1pm and 3pm, usually in the Tent on the Stage (2nd Floor, between Lift Banks C & D)
- A Monthly Memorial Service is held in the Chapel, usually on the first Tuesday of each month at 2:30pm
- Special services (eg Ash Wednesday, Hospital Carol Service at Christmas) are advertised around the hospital and in the Trust's electronic Daily Noticeboard
- At Jewish Festivals the Rabbi will see patients and staff who request a visit and deliver the appropriate gifts
Monthly Memorial Service
This reflective service is offered in the Chapel on the first Tuesday of each month (except January when it takes place on the second Tuesday) at 2:30pm. The relatives and friends of those who died in the hospital two months previously are invited to this event and the names of their loved ones are read out during the service, when there is also the opportunity to light a candle, but the service is open to all who are grieving and names of the departed are often added as people arrive at the chapel. The prayers used are suitable for people of all world faiths and gentle music is played.
Mourners are welcome to bring a photograph or memento of the deceased to place on the altar during the service.
Tea, coffee and biscuits are served afterwards when there is also an opportunity to talk with one of the chaplains, a member of the Macmillan Team, or the Maternity Bereavement Facilitator.
