Anaesthesia Crisis Resource Management Conscious Sedation

A one-day course set in a simulated operating theatre designed to train anaesthetists in crisis management techniques. A high-fidelity patient manikin is used to simulate various crisis situations that anaesthetist may encounter. The main focus is on teamwork and behavioural issues.

A one-day course for clinical staff involved in care of patients undergoing procedures that may require sedation. It focuses on understanding safe sedation techniques as well as how to manage potential adverse events.

Crisis in Obstetric Anaesthesia Difficult Airway Management

A one-day course to train anaesthetists to avoid and deal with crises in Obstetric Anaesthesia. The focus is both on clinical management as well as team work and behavioural issues.

A one-day course to train anaesthetists in advanced airway management and appropriate use of adjunct equipment including fibre optic intubation and cricothyroidotomy. The course will also discuss non-technical skills such as communication and team work.

Paediatric Anaesthesia Paediatric Critical Care

A one-day course to refine clinical and behavioural skills required in the management of paediatric anaesthetic emergencies. This course is offered to all members of the multidisciplinary team.

A one-day course which provides practical training relevant to common paediatric emergencies including airway management, fluid and drug therapy.

STeLI Simulation Facilitation Simulation Instructor Training

A one-day course run on behalf of the London Deanery, teaching the basic skills required to provide simulated training. The course covers debriefing skills, small group teaching and principles of planning scenarios. In order to successfully complete the course, candidates are then required to partake in one of our simulation courses to practice and develop the skills learnt.

A two-day multi-professional course providing comprehensive simulation training. The course reinforces the principles of ACRM and provides instruction on how to run scenarios, the essentials of human factors, and group dynamics as well as debriefing techniques.

Gynae Laparoscopy Gynae Ultrasound

The course comprises of eight fixed half day sessions which includes lectures, demonstrations and assessments. This course is run in collaboration with London Deanery.

 

This one-day simulation course aims to train gynaecology and radiology trainees in the skills required for effective transvaginal ultrasound scanning through use of a state of the art scanning simulator. The focus of the course is to provide the trainees with the necessary knowledge and skills to perform this intimate examination.

Thoracic Ultrasound Course (TUSS)  

This is a one day course for medical speciality trainees to attain RCR level one competence in ultrasound guided, intercostal aspiration and drainage. The courses includes lectures and practical sessions both simulated and with patients (non-invasive thoracic ultrasound).
