2011 winners

Congratulations to Antonia Shepherd (HR Business Partner) who was the winner of November's Employee of the Month.

She was nominated for all the hard work that she put into leading the organisation of November's Wellbeing Days for staff which included mini health MOT sessions and a staff photography competition.

Congratulations also to the Wellbeing Team who were the winners of November's Team of the Month in recognition of the contribution of other staff who organised events as part of the Wellbeing Days—this included staff in Nutrition & Dietetics, Occupational Health and others.

Congratulations to Angela Cox (Senior Midwife) who was the winner of October's Employee of the Month. Angela was nominated by numerous colleagues who said: "When there was unprecedented activity in Maternity, Angela demonstrated outstanding leadership—a calm head, decisive and confident decision making, support for staff, kindness, compassion and excellent communication to parents and a smile through it all."

Congratulations also to the West London Centre for Sexual Health Receptionists who were the winners of October's Team of the Month.

Consultant Dr Christopher Scott said: "Each member of the team has worked tirelessly to ensure a smooth transition from paper notes to paperless notes and the installation of a new booking system for patients. They are incredibly hardworking and the changes happened with no hiccups. Well done!"

Congratulations to Charlotte Mackenzie Crooks (Volunteer Services and Work Experience Manager) who was the winner of September's Employee of the Month.

Charlotte was nominated by numerous staff colleagues and volunteers including Jennifer Persaud-Haughton who said: "Charlotte is the most caring, patient and dedicated person I have met since I started volunteering in the hospital. She is always ready to listen and always finds the good in everyone."

Medical Illustration were the winners of August's Team of the Month. They were nominated by staff including Caroline Fenwick who said: "They were really helpful when we were working on a project together—approachable, flexible and very friendly. They kept us up-to-date with their progress at all times."

Congratulations to Viv Freeman (Sister, Burns Unit) who was the winner of August's Employee of the Month.

Viv was nominated by colleagues including Karen Sisk (Senior Staff Nurse, Intensive Care Unit) who said: "She is an amazing sister, she is extremely supportive and an absolute pleasure to work with. She is extremely hardworking and always has a smile on her face."

Congratulations to Ryan Delaney (Healthcare Assistant, A&E) who was the winner of July's Employee of the Month.

Ryan was nominated by colleagues in the department including Mike Maguire (Senior Nurse for Professional Development) who said: "Ryan is a very special person who oozes professionalism, dedication and compassionate care. He is always willing to go that 'extra mile' for patients and staff."

The Pain Management Team were the winners of July's Team of the Month. They were nominated by patients including Iram Ahmed who said: "The team are very passionate about their specialty which in turn makes us want to learn more and adapt our way of life. You can really tell they care and want us to live a more fulfilled life."

Congratulations to Jerome Jones (EPR Training Co-ordinator) who won June's Employee of the Month.

A number of staff nominated Jerome including Meena Martin (Information Governance Manager) who said: "Jerome is very helpful and supportive. It is a pleasure to work with him and our department is very lucky to have him."

The Security team were the winners of June's Team of the Month, nominated by all staff on David Erskine Ward who said: "Over the past few months we have had to use the services of the Security team on an almost daily basis to help us manage some very challenging patients. They do this sensitively, compassionately, with dignity and in a very professional manner. A huge thank you."

Congratulations to Dawn Grant (Lead Nurse for Support Worker Development) who was the winner of May's Employee of the Month.

Dawn was nominated by colleagues including Sally Newland (HR Recruitment Administrator) who said: "Dawn goes the extra mile. If a candidate is unsuccessful at interview she will not only give them feedback but also offer coaching in interview techniques and writing job applications."

The Overseas Office were the winners of May's Team of the Month. An American tourist whose son was admitted to the hospital for treatment said: "My son received exceptional care from all staff who looked after him and the Overseas Office were so helpful to me because I was unsure of how to contact my insurance company in the US and how we could pay for my son's care."

Congratulations to Lesley Anne Marke (Sister, David Erskine Ward), one of the winners of April's Employee of the Month.

Lesley Anne was nominated by colleagues including Holly Ashforth (Clinical Nurse Lead, Medicine and Surgery) who said: "Lesley Anne is a consistent role model to her team and others, she is an excellent patient advocate in a compassionate and respectful manner."

Congratulations to Olivia Dawson-Annan (Administrative Officer), the other winner of April's Employee of the Month.

Olivia was nominated by several of her colleagues including Dr Justin Lee (Consultant Radiologist) who said: "Olivia is extremely helpful, hardworking, professional, organised and caring."

Congratulations to PACS Support (Radiology), March's Team of the Month.

Ultrasound Superintendent Hilary Haskins, who was one of a number of staff who nominated the team for their award, said: "When the PACS system experienced an unprecedented downtime, they maintained a calm, dignified and professional service, working long hours in the interests of the whole Trust."

Sherryn Elsworth (Head of Performance Improvement—centre left) and Virginia Massaro (Head of Financial Planning—centre right) were joint winners of March's Employee of the Month.

Lorraine Bewes, Director of Finance, said: "Sherryn and Virginia provided outstanding support for the annual commissioning negotiations through their expert understanding and their engagement with colleagues in the clinical divisions."

Congratulations to the John Hunter Clinic Health Advisers, February's Team of the Month.

Karina Nadworska (Recall Co-ordinator), who works closely with the team, said: "They are always prepared to give extra help, providing the best service for our patients."

Lara Carrasco-Morley (Staff Nurse, David Erskine Ward—top centre) and Samantha Talboys (Pharmacist—bottom centre) were joint winners of February's Employee of the Month.

Lara was nominated by the multi-disciplinary team on David Erskine Ward who said: "Lara always puts the needs of her patients and colleagues first, stopping to help and support wherever needed and always with a smile on her face."

Samantha was nominated by several of her colleagues including Joel Myers (Lead Clinical Pharmacist, Cancer and Technical Services) who said: "Sam is very hardworking, professional and a delight to work with."

Congratulations to Therapy Services who were named Team of the Month for January.

Karen Robertson (Divisional Director of Operations) said: "Therapy Services have worked very hard over the last month to make sure no patients are waiting for either occupational therapy or physiotherapy assessment at the end of each working day. The team has pulled together by staff helping out in each others' areas wherever they can."

Congratulations to Mary Wesley (Senior Staff Nurse, David Evans Ward) who was January's Employee of the Month.

Caroline Evans (Senior Registrar) said: "She has supported and helped so many staff on St Mary Abbots Ward while it was being set up. She is always upbeat, cheerful and positive."
