Supervisors of Midwives
The Supervisors of Midwives are a team of experienced midwives who have undertaken additional training and are appointed by the Local Supervisory Authority (LSA). They are a source of professional advice on all midwifery matters and aim to enhance the quality of care of mothers and their families.
Supervisors of Midwives support women's choices by empowering the Midwives who work in the Maternity Unit to practice safely and ensure with the needs of the mother and her family are placed at the centre of their care.

Our team have recently been awarded ‘Supervisory Team of the Year for excellence in supervision’ by the London LSA for 2012. This was for the work we have done in the development of our annual report which is presented to numerous stakeholders and outlines the many ways that supervision contributes to maternity care at C&W.
