Your local Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) will have certain criteria you and your partner will have to meet to receive NHS funded treatment. These criteria do vary—for more information please contact your CCG directly. If you are not eligible for NHS funded treatment please see our price list here or email us at for further information.

Ask your GP to refer you to the sub-fertility clinic at Chelsea and Westminster, where you will complete a number of fertility investigations to review your eligibility for NHS funded treatment.

Alternatively you can self-refer for a private consultation with one of our experienced consultants.

Treatment Options

The technique of intrauterine insemination (IUI) is one of the simpler methods of assisted reproduction. It involves the injection of prepared sperm from the donor into the uterine cavity via a small catheter inserted through the cervix (neck of the womb).  The can be done with or without medication.

In this treatment, eggs are removed from the ovaries, fertilised with sperm in a laboratory dish and allowed to grow before being replaced in the woman’s womb. IVF literally means ‘fertilisation in glass’, giving us the familiar term ‘test tube baby’.

Donor Sperm

Known sperm donor

This is someone you know who has volunteered to donate their sperm for your treatment. They will need to attend the clinic for a number of checks to ensure they are a suitable donor so you have the highest opportunity of success

Unknown donor

The unit can provide you with a number of sperm banks we have frequently used for treatment, and support you through what type of sperm to buy. Most sperm banks will have already completed a number of checks on the donor to ensure they are suitable for your treatment. Note: Procurement of sperm is not routinely funded by CCGs.
