Women’s and men’s health physiotherapy

The women’s and men’s health physiotherapy team are specialised in treating patients with pelvic floor dsyfunction. The team treats a wide variety of patients including men, women and children with bladder, bowel and sexual problems. The team also treats patients who are pregnant and our goal is to reduce pain and help keep women fit and active throughout their pregnancy.

What we do

The Chelsea and Westminster women’s and men’s health physiotherapy team treats a wide variety of patients, including men, women and children with bladder, bowel and sexual problems. We specialise in patients with pelvic floor dysfunction. We also treat patients who are pregnant and our goal is to reduce pain and help keep women fit and active throughout their pregnancy.

Conditions we treat include:

On the inpatient wards we provide treatment and advice for all women after 3rd or 4th degree tear, forceps delivery and caesarean section. We also see women following gynaecology.

Within outpatients with provide:

  • Pelvic floor muscle retraining exercises
  • Biofeedback and muscle stimulation for the pelvic floor
  • Core strengthening exercises
  • Bladder retraining
  • Lifestyle advice
  • Pilates classes—antenatal and postnatal
  • Hydrotherapy—antenatal

Our team

Our team is led by Charlotte Barton, Women’s Health Extended Scope Practitioner and Independent Prescriber, and Clare Bamping, Specialist Women’s and Men’s Health Physiotherapist.

Chelsea and Westminster Hospital

Your appointment will either be in the Therapy Services Department on the Ground Floor at Lift Bank C or in Outpatients 2 in Gynaecology on the 1st Floor.
