Information and support

Free Cancer information booklets

The Macmillan Centre has a library of free cancer information for you to explore. You do not need an appointment—simply drop in to the centre and browse through the information. You may wish to get advice from the Macmillan experts who are on-hand to support you to find the right information.

There are free booklets and flyers covering many topics, including:

  • Cancer types and treatments
  • Emotional wellbeing
  • Staying physically active
  • Carers, relatives and friends
  • Finance, work and travel
  • Life after cancer treatment
  • Local service and support groups

If we don’t have what you need, we’ll be happy to signpost you to other sources of information and support or help you with an internet search.

Support

We understand that being affected by cancer can cause a range of feelings and emotions. Whether you’re a patient or a relative, friend or carer of someone who is unwell, we’re here to support you or talk things through.

We are a team of one specialist health professional and trained volunteers who provide individual support, information and practical advice that’s right for you.

We want you and those around you to feel listened to, understood and informed.  You can talk to us in confidence about anything you may be worried about or need information on, from coping with your own feelings and financial help to what to say to others. If you need a private space, this is available.

We work closely with the complementary therapists and psychological care team, and can refer you to the appropriate service if needed.

How to access us

The centre is open Mon–Fri, 9am–4pm. You do not need an appointment—just drop in. The centre is open to everyone, whether you are a Chelsea and Westminster patient or not (although we can only offer counselling and complementary therapies to Chelsea and Westminster patients and carers). Your GP can refer you for cancer support.

Where to find us

We are located in the Lower Ground Floor Outpatients Atrium between lift banks C and D—follow the signage to the Lower Ground Floor Outpatients Department.
