Important information about sexual health services and your appointment

Sexual health services across London are under increasing pressure. These services are funded by Local Authorities, many of whom have experienced a budget reduction of more than 30%. Some areas in London have closed their sexual health clinics and as a result we are experiencing an increased demand for our appointments.

Despite the decline in HIV diagnoses across London, other sexually transmitted infections are rising. The number of people needing to be seen in our clinics has increased. We know that this affects our ability to answer calls quickly on our appointments line and you will experience a longer waiting time to be seen for a clinic appointment. The budget cuts have affected us directly, and we have had to restrict our clinic opening hours and the number of people we are able to review.

We aim to see everyone who wishes to uses our services—however, it is no longer possible for all patients to be seen within 48 hours of contacting us. Patients will be prioritised according to clinical need.

We thank you for your understanding and we apologise for any inconvenience that this causes you.

Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust strongly supports continued open access to sexual health clinics. Despite the challenges, we will continue to innovate and improve our services. In the next few months, we will be introducing an online appointment booking system and will update shortly.
