Schools training

Your child spends a lot of time at school so it is important to ensure that the teachers and school staff are up to date with management of diabetes.  You may be aware of a recent document which outlines how schools can best manage children with diabetes:

The following websites provide useful information and links to order packs for schools and download free guides. The JDRF website also provides a link to an e-learning module which we suggest all school staff complete, after which you can download a certificate.

We run regular training sessions here at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital to help and assist school teachers and open up communication links between school and the hospital.

Each 3 hour training session includes a presentation and practical sessions on blood glucose testing, insulin injections and carbohydrate counting.  You will receive a certificate at the end.

Before signing up for a session, please ensure you have, or are due to have, a child in your class with diabetes who is under the care of Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.

Places are limited so please book well in advance. You are advised to book for a spring date if you are taking on a child with diabetes in September, as the September session books up quickly. There is a limit of 3 people from any one school at each training session. If you cannot attend, we request that you cancel as early as possible so that we can give your place to someone else.
