A major redevelopment of Chelsea and Westminster Hospital is improving services for patients.

Since the redevelopment started in April 2010, there have been some significant changes that have improved the patient experience—in this section of our website you can find out more about developments to date and our plans for the future.


How are we making your hospital better?

  • Diagnostic Centre—construction of a new state-of-the-art Diagnostic Centre to create a better environment for patients who need a range of diagnostic tests is due to start Summer 2012 and due to open to patients in early 2013read more
  • Chelsea Children’s Hospital—new facilities opened for children in the Netherton Grove Extension in September 2011 and February 2012, the first phase of the development of a fully integrated children’s hospital on the 1st Floor of Chelsea and Westminster Hospital which is due for completion December 2013read more
  • New HIV & Cancer Unit—state-of-the-art facility for HIV and cancer patients opened February 2012read more
  • Infrastructure project to reduce our carbon footprint and reduce our energy costs—completed April 2012read more
  • New Outpatients Department—the first patients were treated in the new area in January 2011 and it opened fully in April 2011read more
  • Urgent Care Centre in partnership with our local GPs to provide faster assessment in our A&E Department and ensure patients receive the right care in the right place—opened October 2010read more
  • Streetscape improvements at the front of Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, led by the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea—completed Summer 2010read more
