Professional expertise

  • Endometriosis and minimally invasive surgery - Chelsea and Westminster is a BSGE/RCOG recognised centre for the management of complex endometriosis. As lead surgeon for this service and lead laparoscopic surgeon in the unit I perform over 200 operative laparoscopic operations each year and over 40 of these involve excision of rectovaginal endometriosis.
  • I also lead the gynaecology rapid access service (GRAS) which comprises of CNS triage and two hysteroscopy clinics each week. Using this nurse triage system patients are offered prompt convenient first appointment and make compliance with cancer pathways a reality.
  • Within the hysteroscopy service I offer i) endometrial and fibroid resection ii)endometrial ablation (with Novasure device or saline resectoscope) and iii) hysteroscopic sterilisation

Profile

In research, beyond personal projects, I have been involved in two National NIHR portfolio studies recruiting patients to evaluate treatment methods/management pathways in gynaecology. The OPT study has now closed and is in the writing phase. I am now lead investigator at Chelsea for the MEDAL study: MRI to Establish Diagnosis Against Laparoscopy. I aim to recruit between 50 and 70 patients and we are on track to achieve this.

Other contributions

I have been appointed as a Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer, Imperial College in recognition of contributions to the Division.
