Profile

Dr Yiannis Ioannou is a Consultant General Paediatrician based at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital and an Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at Imperial College, London. As a general paediatrician and father of two young children, Yiannis is happy to consult on a range of general paediatric conditions affecting children and young people. Yiannis graduated from Pembroke College, Cambridge University and Guy’s and St Thomas’ Medical School in London. In addition to his diverse general paediatric experience, he has had higher specialist training in paediatric emergency, paediatric intensive care and retrieval at St Mary’s Hospital, Imperial College London. He has had further subspecialty training and experience in neonatology, paediatric nephrology, neurology and oncology at Evelina Children’s Hospital, London and Children’s Hospital Westmead in Sydney, Australia. Prior to commencing his substantive consultant post at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital Yiannis worked as a locum consultant general paediatrician at Great Ormond Street Hospital supporting the cleft lip and palate multidisciplinary service and as a locum consultant in general paediatrics and adolescent health at University College London Hospital.

Other contributions

Dr Ioannou is joint lead for undergraduate paediatric education for Imperial College medical students based at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, He has written a range of educational material and conducted research into a number of aspects of undergraduate medical education that has been presented at National and International conferences. Yiannis completed an MSc in Clinical Paediatrics, was awarded a Fellowship with the Higher Education Academy and Teaching Excellence Award by Imperial College. Dr Ioannou teaches in a range of settings to multidisciplinary groups including general practitioners, nurses and midwives and is an established instructor on Advanced Paediatric Life Support and Newborn Life Support Courses.
