Comfortable stay
Everyone in our team is committed to keeping patients safe during their stay. You and your visitors can help us:
You will be asked to wear an identity band throughout your stay. Please check that the details on the band are correct and that staff check them prior to giving you any medication or performing any procedures.- Regularly wash your hands, particularly before eating, as this is the best way to stop the spread of infection.
- Ensure visitors use the alcohol gel to clean their hands when they visit and do not allow them to sit on your bed.
- Please ask your friends and relatives not to visit if they have a cough, cold or infectious disease.
- Please ask visitors to use the visitor toilet, not the one in your room.
- Check staff wash their hands when they come into contact with you. If you are not sure that this has been done please ask them to do this, they will feel happy that you have felt confident to challenge them.
It is important that your room is cleaned daily and to a high standard.
If your room has not been cleaned or if it has not been cleaned to a high standard, please alert the ward staff so that they can rectify the situation.
For your comfort
Patients tire easily after an operation so it is sometimes better for you to have short visits. Please let your relatives and friends know this.
We welcome flowers on the unit and will change the water daily for you to minimise any infection risk.
