When are the Paralympic Games being held?
The dates of the Paralympic Games are:
- Paralympic Games: 29 August–9 September
How will the Paralympics affect London?
The Paralympics are expected to have an impact on London, with thousands of people travelling here to either participate in, or attend the events including:
- 4,200 Paralympian athletes
- 20,500 accredited media
- 10,000 Games workforce
Large numbers of visitors are expected to be using public transport, and the Paralympics Route Network (PRN) will be in place throughout London.
Certain areas of London have been identified as 'hotspots', which are expected to be particularly busy during the Games.
Paralympic Torch Relay flame lighting
The Paralympic Torch Relay will run from Friday 24 to Wednesday 29 August. National Flames will be lit in each capital city of the UK. These flames will jouney to Stoke Mandeville where they will be united at a special ceremony to create the Paralympic Flame.
The London Flame Lighting will take place on Friday 24 August, in Trafalgar Square.
How will Chelsea and Westminster Hospital be affected?
All of the hospital’s services will continue as normal during the Paralympics period and we are committed to maintaining the highest standards of care for all of our patients.
Travelling to your appointment
Please ensure you plan ahead and allow plenty of extra time to travel to your appointment, as roads and public transport services are expected to be much busier than normal.
