Chelsea and Westminster Hospital became a Foundation Trust on 1 October 2006 which has led to tangible improvements in patient care and has made the Trust more accountable to patients, the public and our staff.
Now that we are a Foundation Trust, the Council of Governors—including elected representatives of patients, members of the public and hospital staff as well as nominated representatives of key local stakeholder organisations—works with the Board of Directors as a ‘critical friend’, helping to shape the Trust's future.
