Return to nursing/midwifery courses

The Trust is launching Return to Practice (RtP) courses for nursing and midwifery in September 2017.

The RtP course will involve one day in university each week plus two days in clinical practice. A minimum of 180 hours in practice will be required, longer if you have been out of practice for over five years.

On successful completion of the course you will gain a diploma level module.

Providing you commit to working for the Trust on completion of the course, you will be paid as a Band 3 during these practice hours (£8.68 an hour, plus London weighting). During these practice hours you will be allocated a mentor and on successful completion of the course you will attend the Trust induction programme and join the Preceptorship programme to give you additional support during your first year working as a nurse/midwife.

Before enrolling on the course we will encourage you to work five shifts as a Healthcare Assistant on the bank within the hospital to reorientate you to ward work and help you to be sure that returning to practice is the right thing for you.
