On Saturday 16 September, West Middlesex University Hospital pulled off our busiest Open Day to date—with numerous patients and members of the public coming down to take a peek at the fantastic work taking place across our hospital and how proud we are to care for all of our patients.

The event was a huge success and along with launching the Suns and Stars Fundraising Appeal with our charity CW+ to transform our children’s wards into a bright, fun and welcoming environment for our youngest patients and their families, we also:

  • Offered jobs to 8 nurses who were interviewed on the day and invited 6 back for interview
  • Recruited 67 new members to our Council of Governors
Raising more than £1,000 on the day to support the redevelopment of our children's services, the hospital and CW+ charity would also like to extend a very special thanks to:
  • Tesco who very kindly supported the day, with staff from Hounslow, Feltham and Twickenham stores joining in the fundraising activities by hosting their own stall and donating a raffle prize for the CW+ stand.
  • Hospital Director Tina Benson who (fresh from the Open Day) ran the Richmond half marathon on Sunday, leading a team of local fundraisers who collectively raised more than £2,000 towards the appeal.
  • Christine Catlin and the team for their PROUD to Bake sale which raised more than £135 for the appeal—not to mention our very own Rochelle Gee for her winning cake!
  • Local family, Katy, Jonathan, Ruby and Stanley Cooper, who have been fundamental in raising funds for the children's wards and helped to officially open the day.
  • ISS who provided fantastic support on the day and also donated a range of prizes through their exciting raffle, which included Foo Fighters tickets and a night in the exclusive Sunborn Yacht Hotel.
