Katie Arneil, Infant Feeding Coordinator at West Middlesex University Hospital, has been recognised for her work with Unicef UK’s Baby Friendly Initiative and treated to an afternoon of special treats and surprises by Marks & Spencer to say thank you.

Unicef UK has been partnered with Marks & Spencer since 2011 and just before Christmas, M&S invited all nine of their charity partners to nominate someone who they felt deserved a special thank you, and Unicef chose Katie.

Along with fellow nominees, Katie was whisked away on an open top bus through central London where they were greeted by musicians who serenaded them and others who cheered for them on the streets. They also had their name up in lights on the M&S London flagship store on Oxford Street.

Unicef's Baby Friendly Initiative works with public services to improve the level of care and support available on breastfeeding and parent-infant relationships. Last year saw West Mid’s Queen Mary Maternity Unit reaccredited with the full Baby Friendly Award in recognition of the high standards of care they provide for breastfeeding mothers and their babies - an award which Katie worked very hard towards. In addition to this, Katie also worked on a number of photography and film projects in order to produce a wide range of learning resources which are now featured prominently on the Baby Friendly website.
