West Middlesex University Hospital’s second annual open day took place on Saturday 13 September, and once again proved hugely popular with the local community.

The hospital was filled with around eighty different stalls representing a broad range of different hospital services from audiology through to x-ray, as well a range of behind the scenes tours including an operating theatre and hi-tech simulation centre used to train doctors, nurses and other healthcare professionals.

The open day was an opportunity for people to visit the hospital, learn more about its services and chat to staff who deliver care to patients every day.

The hospital was also joined by a number of partner organisations, whom it works with to provide a seamless service.

Visitors were able to get a health MOT, and pick up useful advice on how to lead a healthy lifestyle.

There was a variety of live entertainment throughout the day and one of the most popular areas for families was the children’s zone, run by the hospital’s paediatric department. There was face painting, arts and crafts and magic shows as well as children’s allergy testing. Also popular was the career’s zone, with experts on hand to give information and advice on the many and varied careers available in the hospital and wider NHS.

The hospital also had information about some of the forthcoming developments to its services including the expansion of its maternity department and improvements to accident and emergency.
