A spokesperson for Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust said: “We would like to reassure patients and members of the public that we continue to provide a full range of hospital services today. Clinical staff at the hospital who have chosen not to strike have been utilised in the best way possible to ensure that anyone requiring emergency care will be able to receive this as normal.

“In order to minimise any disruption the strikes may cause to patients requiring emergency care, we have had to reschedule some planned maternity and surgical appointments and those affected were notified of this last week. These patients will have their appointments rescheduled as a priority. Discharge transport is unaffected.

“We would very much appreciate support from the public at this time in carefully considering whether they need to seek emergency treatment or whether other NHS services are more appropriate to access.

“The Trust will continue to carefully monitor this situation in order to make sure that we continue to provide a first rate service to our patients throughout the period of strike action.”
