We would like to reassure patients, staff and visitors that the company that provides our catering—ISS Facility Services Healthcare—and its suppliers are confident the food served at the hospital has not been affected by the latest concerns over horse meat.

ISS says every step has been taken to ensure the integrity of its food chain and it will be maintaining a high level of contact with all of its suppliers who are working closely with the Food Standards Agency (FSA).

There are three suppliers of beef products to the hospital. All have given the following assurances over their products.

  • Catering company Apetito—the hospital’s supplier of ready meals for patients—has carried out DNA tests on its products and all test results were clear. It is carrying out extensive and ongoing DNA testing of beef raw materials and finished products.
  • Food firm 3663—which supplies ready meals for our restaurant—has confirmed that it does not stock any Findus meat products or trade with companies named as sources of the horse meat.
  • Maple Fine Foods—which supplies our Halal dishes—says none of its products have been affected by the use of horse meat. Its supply chain is audited and continuously monitored to ensure complete traceability of all meat.
