10 October 2012

Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, in partnership with Managed Technology Services and Freeway Medical, won the British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM) Award for Innovation in Products for the development of a child focused “Paediatric Mobile Workstation”.

Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, in partnership with Managed Technology Services and Freeway Medical, won the British Institute of Facilities Management (BIFM) Award for Innovation in Products for the development of a child focused “Paediatric Mobile Workstation”.

The new workstations, which are used in the Paediatric High Dependency Unit in the Chelsea Children’s Hospital, were inspired by Lead Nurse Neil Williams and staff and designed in vibrant colours to help allay anxiety of children and parents. They enable staff to record detailed observations and are equipped with medical supplies so that nursing staff have to spend less time away from the bedside.

The workstation is the first of its kind having been designed with paediatric patients in mind and has now been launched nationally.

This is a prestigious award to win and is a credit to all who have contributed to the development of the new workstation. BIFM is the leading facilities management body in the UK and the awards recognise excellence in facilities management.
