BBC presenter Sophie Raworth announced the winners of the first Chelsea and Westminster Star Awards, sponsored by Chelsea and Westminster Health Charity, at an awards evening held at Chelsea Football Club on Monday 14 May 2012.

There were 18 individual staff winners—including Dr Neil Soni, the recipient of the Chief Executive’s Special Award—and 2 team awards.

More than 170 staff and award sponsors attended the awards evening.

Almost 800 nominations were received for the Star Awards from staff and patients and 3 individual staff and/or teams were shortlisted by judging panels for:

  • 17 Staff Choice awards—staff nominated by staff
  • Patient Choice award—staff nominated by patients
  • Council of Governors Special Award

Chief Executive’s Special Award

Chief Executive Heather Lawrence presented her Special Award to Dr Neil Soni (Consultant Anaesthetist) to recognise his long service and outstanding contribution to patient care and the hospital.
