Congratulations to staff at 56 Dean Street, the Trust’s sexual health and HIV centre in Soho, who have been shortlisted for the prestigious NHS Health and Social Care Awards 2010 in the ‘Success in Partnership Working’ category.

Congratulations to staff at 56 Dean Street, the Trust’s sexual health and HIV centre in Soho, who have been shortlisted for the prestigious NHS Health and Social Care Awards 2010 in the ‘Success in Partnership Working’ category.

They have been shortlisted for their unique and highly successful Hepatitis B screening, vaccination and treatment service which is run jointly with the Chinese National Healthy Living Centre.

As part of the UK-China Collaboration in Community Health, five representatives from the Beijing Municipal Health Bureau visited 56 Dean Street recently to see the innovative service in action.

They observed the collaborative approach which has been developed to encourage the Chinese community, some of whom who may have recently arrived in the UK and who may not speak English, to take up Hepatitis B screening, vaccination and treatment.

The Chinese visitors were particularly impressed by the model of care used and the achievement of the service in providing excellent care to Chinese immigrants who are often regarded as a ‘difficult to reach’ group.
