03 February 2009

The Victoria Clinic for HIV and Sexual Health, currently located at the South Westminster Centre for Health, 82 Vincent Square, SW1P 2PF, will be moving to new, larger state-of the-art premises in Dean Street, Soho on Monday 2 March 2009.

The Victoria Clinic for HIV and Sexual Health, currently located at the South Westminster Centre for Health, 82 Vincent Square, SW1P 2PF, will be moving to new, larger state-of the-art premises in Dean Street, Soho on Monday 2 March 2009.

The new centre will be renamed 56 Dean Street.

Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust’s HIV and sexual health services have an excellent reputation. More than 66,000 patients used the Trust’s sexual health services in 2007/08 and the Trust provides treatment for almost 5,500 people living with HIV.

These services are currently based at three main centres – the John Hunter Clinic at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, the West London Centre for Sexual Health at Charing Cross Hospital, and the Victoria Clinic for HIV and Sexual Health at the South Westminster Centre.

Because of a lack of space at the Victoria Clinic, services are being moved to 56 Dean Street, Soho to ensure sufficient capacity to continue to deliver the full range of sexual health and HIV services.

Rapidly increasing rates of sexually transmitted infection mean that it is important for sexual health services to be as accessible as possible. 56 Dean Street has the potential to deliver first class HIV and sexual health services for patients by utilising the latest technology in a modern environment.

All clinics except Cont@ct, the daily dedicated young people’s walk-in service, are by appointment only but patients who walk in will be assessed and given an urgent appointment on the same day, if they need it. Cont@ct will continue from the new premises.

56 Dean Street will offer the full complement of HIV and sexual health care including erectile dysfunction clinics, chronic genital problem clinics, and a full contraception service.

The new centre will provide three evening clinics a week and will also be open on Saturdays, making it one of only two NHS sexual health centres in London to offer Saturday opening (the other being Chelsea and Westminster’s West London Centre for Sexual Health).

Victoria Clinic services at the South Westminster Centre will cease at 5 pm on Wednesday 18 February 2009.

From 18 February to 2 March, patients who require sexual health services should contact our sexual health appointments line on 020 3315 6699 to book an appointment at either the John Hunter Clinic at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital or the West London Centre for Sexual Health at Charing Cross Hospital.
