The John Hunter Clinic for Sexual Health will be re-opening to patients on Monday 6 March as part of a £887,000 revamp.

Building works started in January to completely refurbish three floors of the St Stephen’s Centre on the Fulham Road including the John Hunter Clinic for Sexual Health.

Thanks to the redevelopment patients now have access to a new waiting area, triage room, double the number of examination rooms, more consultation rooms and an upgraded laboratory to speed up test results.

Staff will benefit from improved educational facilities, office space and an upgraded staff room.

A new telephone appointments system has also been developed which means there is now one single phone number for patients who want to book appointments at any of the Trust's sexual health clinics.

The new number—020 3315 6699—includes the John Hunter Clinic at the St Stephen's Centre, the West London Centre for Sexual Health at Charing Cross Hospital and the Victoria Clinic in Vincent Square, SW1 as well as HIV clinics at all three locations.

Dr Ann Sullivan said: “I would like to say thank you to everyone who has worked incredibly hard to ensure as little disruption as possible for patients whilst the works were underway. I think everyone will agree that this refurbishment has given both patients and staff a state-of-art facility in which to be treated and work.

“Improvements in the design of the John Hunter Clinic means that we will be able to increase the number of patients treated there by 30% and this combined with our new telephone system and upgraded lab will help to reduce the time people wait for appointments and results.”

Chief Executive of the Trust, Heather Lawrence, said: ”Improving the nation’s sexual health is now a national priority with a challenging new target that all patients are offered an appointment within 48 hours from 1 April this year. This redevelopment will be help us to meet these targets and improve sexual health services for our patients.”
