Celebration of digital health success at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust

Together with colleagues from Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, hospital charity CW+ were delighted to showcase our ‘digital health successes’ at the DigitalHealth.London Accelerator’s one-year anniversary event at the Kia Oval yesterday.

Also speaking at this celebration event was Deputy Mayor of London for Business, Rajesh Agrawal and NHS England’s Chief Clinical Information Officer, Keith McNeil.
The event was to celebrate the successes of the first year of the DigitalHealth.London Accelerator programme and the achievements of NHS staff and clinicians who played an instrumental role in adopting new digital health technology.
The DH.LA is a programme which aims to speed up adoption of technology in London’s NHS, relieving high pressure on services and empowering patients to manage their health. CW+ is proud to be a delivery partner of the programme.
CW+’s Head of Innovation and Impact Lawrence Petalidis and three clinicians from Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust showcased a selection of the digital solutions which we selected and have successfully adopted from the first year of the programme.
Sadia Khan, Consultant Cardiologist at West Middlesex University Hospital presented her work with Medopad to improve heart failure patient care through remote monitoring. Christos Kontovounisios, Colorectal Surgeon at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital spoke about CW+’s partnership with 11 Health for the first UK pilot of wireless monitoring sensors for stoma patients. Finally, Consultant Obstetrician and Gynecologist Sunita Sharma spoke about her work with Lumeon to digitise the postnatal discharge process to improve patient experience and system efficiency.
Roger Chinn, Deputy Medical Director, Chelsea and Westminster NHS Foundation Trust concluded the CW+ presentation commenting: “Working with our charity and the Accelerator has produced meaningful, well designed digital health projects across the Trust. What I find particularly encouraging is not only how this innovative digital health portfolio complements our quality improvement drive and values, but also how positive its impact has been on all patients involved.”
Chris Chaney, CW+ Chief Executive added: "We are delighted to have had such a successful first year working with our Trust, clinical and industry partners and the DH.LA team. We have learnt a huge amount but most importantly, through working together, have helped bring critical interventions closer to our patients to improve both their experience and their outcomes.”
The 30 digital health companies to be included in the second batch of the Accelerator programme to transform London’s NHS were also announced at yesterday’s event, with technologies including video-game rehabilitation, Artificial Intelligence (AI) health monitoring, and a ‘USB port’ for amputees. Chris Chaney commented: “The second cohort of companies chosen by DH.LA represents a fantastic array of talent, creativity and innovation and we are looking forward to bringing more partners into our programme over the next twelve months.”
